“Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hello WF family.
I have been away for some time, as I have been focusing on my business, school, and travel. I have come across great opportunities and random events and run-ins with some important people who have given me tips that have helped me immensely.
With that, I have sat and thought about what some individuals tend to claim to be the reasoning for not just my successes, but those of others:
Luck.
Do I believe in luck? Not at all.
Do I believe in blessings, preparedness, and hard work? Most definitely.
The wealthiest of the wealthy will tell you one thing about how they begot their wealth, they were damn well preparing for it and it took a lot of time. If you want to live a great life, you must give something great to the world. Nothing great comes overnight.
But what about those who became millionaires from an app they made or those who happen to just meet the right people and get funding for their projects? That isn’t luck?
No, it is favor. I have met individuals who are on par in terms of wealth with some of the wealthiest individuals in Canada. It wasn’t luck that I met them. They did not stand in one spot forever until I met them. People passed them on the road, in stores, in the supermarket, everywhere.
The difference in my result is that I was looking for one. I am always alert and I look to strike up conversations with people who give me that energy that I could learn from them. By being willing to have conversations with people and by setting yourself up properly, you will be worthy of having conversations with certain individuals. You will not be invited to certain events or locations where wealthy people congregate if you are not worthy. I always tell people, some of the most expensive restaurants in my opinion are not only expensive because of the menu, but also because of the quality of people that can afford to eat there. It is a networkers’ heaven!
I am in no way a serial networker. As a matter of fact, I have friends who can trump me in that area with ease. What I am although, is an opportunist. I take advantage of the opportunities in front of me because when they come, that might be your blessing that you have to be prepared for.
Begin to make the conscious decision to take advantage of any opportunity that comes in front of you. Instead of seeing things as pure luck, understand that the prepared will always be rewarded. Once you do your part, the universe will take care of the rest.
Until next time,
Live Long and Prosperous.
