Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year – and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade! – Tony Robbins

Hi all,

I am currently typing this from my phone, but I wanted to share this before the year ended.

For the first time ever I will be able to enter a new decade and consciously look back at how I’ve spent these past 10 years.

I have done so much that I am proud of and that I am honestly shocked about as well. For one I took a leap of faith and moved to England. This was profound and how I oh how I have enjoyed the last two years of this decade! I discovered rediscovered my love for writing and storytelling, I discovered my desire to be the best screenwriter possible, and I learned so much about myself and what I am actually capable of. I was able to travel throughout Europe and some of Africa realizing and discovering how there is so much that we all can learn from one another.

I’ve made friends outside of my home country and that is something that I will never take advantage of. Although there are the good parts of the past decade there have they also have been some bad. Nonetheless these are things that I have gratefully learn from and continue to learn from as time progresses into this new decade.

I was able to witness the first black president, the first celebrity president, as well as seeing how important our voices are when making a change in the world. I’ve seen how technology can literally change our dictionaries and how we have become capable of making things that we thought could only be seen in sci-fi movies come to life. I’ve been able to be on the positive end of the cryptocurrency bull-run while still currently being heavily invested in what will be the biggest investment of my life. I’ve been a guest on radio shows and have been written about in newspapers online and offline. I’ve also graduated from university and I’ve self-published a novel. As a matter of fact, I have just completed my first draft of a fictional novel I’m working on today, the 31st of December!

There is so much more that I could talk about regarding what I have learned and what I have seen, but I will leave it at this… Before the year ends, take the time to evaluate how you spent the last 10 years. This decade will never come again. So please, I urge you, although we are so glued to our phones that we forget and don’t take notice of the amazing things that are happening in front of us, take some time to just walk outside and look at the world that you live in. You are in 2019… a time where people can be people, voices can be heard, and regardless of whether or not you are in Africa or Australia, your pain and joy are shared with the world. This is the time of international changes and you should be happy to be alive in the time that you are.

Until next time,

Happy New Year!

J.M.
